Functions at Taste

Taste can cater for bookings up to 8 people; larger parties are welcome and can be catered for in special ways, in specific areas of our restaurant and bar.

All bookings of 10 or more are required to order from the set menu or we can happily tailor make a menu to your needs which will be priced accordingly.

Our capacity

The restaurant can serve groups of up to 30 people.

Our Bar area; the central atrium can cater up to 50 guests and there will be a minimum spend of $1500. This area will always be exclusively yours for the duration of your function. Also available is the side terrace, which could comfortably cater for a canapé event of up to 30 people. A minimum spend of $1500 would secure this area for you without the need for venue hire fees.

The whole space can fit 120 people for canapé style standing functions and there is a minimum spend of $4000 for exclusive use. ($5000 Saturday/$8000 Sunday)

We are located at 275 Kent Street in the city, under Westpac place. The nearest cross street is Erskine Street. There is a Sun parking station as part of the building, or we are a short walk from Wynyard station.

Restaurant group menu

Option 1: $50 per person

  • Rice paper rolls with yellow fin tuna, vermicelli and aromatic herbs.
  • Grilled wagyu beef wrapped in betal leaf.
  • Poached market fish in a fragrant coconut curry broth with okra, Vietnamese mint and curry leaves.
  • Twice cooked caramel pork belly with pickled cucumber, pineapple and beansprout salad.
  • Green papaya and peanut salad.
  • Steamed Jasmine rice. 
  • Palm sugar crème caramel.

Option 2: $60 per person

All of the above plus:

  • Fried sticky rice with soy and chilli.
  • Wagyu onglet steak (rangers valley marble score 7+) with hot and sour dressing. 
  • Steamed silken tofu with tomatoes and chilli oil.
